A Question of Eagles is Melissa and Jonathan!
We’re a husband and wife team committed to making heirloom quality pottery for your home and table since 2012. We both grew up in the Midwest, but have lived all across the states from Oregon to New York to California. In 2020, we returned to our Midwestern roots and are headquartered in the SoBro neighborhood of Indianapolis. In 2022 we opened our first retail showroom & general store called Prairie General.
We are inspired by nature, our travels, the landscape and culture of the West, and studio pottery of the 60's and 70's. We believe in the transformative power that using handmade goods can have on our everyday life. We describe ourselves as Rustic Modernists, which for us means an interest in clean modern shapes with an earthy handmade bent. With backgrounds in fine art, we’re drawn to the sculptural qualities of ceramics, and through our functional designs see our work as an extension of our art practices.

“Founded in 2013, Bacanha is a label established in the creation and manufacture of quality organic syrups. Formed by a passionate and creative team, we have acquired the know-how to offer unique drinks that are developed in Paris and made in the Paris region. There is often a lot of research and development behind a simple recipe. This is the case with the recipes of each Bacanha raw syrup which always results from a long process to find the perfect taste and unique aromas.
The basis of the raw syrup is a certified organic pure cane sugar from South America. Then, an infusion can be done, in other cases we add fruit juices, natural extracts or even essential oils. This work of creation and subtle assembly aims, once the syrup has been mixed, to deliver the most authentic and natural taste possible. The common point between all our flavors is the quest for the ideal balance between pH and brix, ie and sugar level. Most of the raw syrups have a pH of less than 4.5 and a brix around 60°, the perfect combination for an exceptional taste. In addition, a low temperature heat treatment is applied to our syrups in order to preserve all the organoleptic qualities of our recipes.
The majority of raw syrups are certified organic and designed for reasonable everyday use. They will be perfect mixed with your hot drink in the morning, your glass of water during the day, or prepared as cocktails at aperitif time...”

Trivets, used to protect surfaces from hot dishes, have a long history, evolving from simple metal stands to decorative art pieces. During the Art Deco period, which spanned roughly from the 1920s to the 1940s, there was a surge in decorative metalwork, often featuring stylized natural motifs and geometric patterns. Bronze was a popular material for its durability and ability to hold intricate designs, making trivets both functional and aesthetically pleasing additions to the home.
This particular trivet, with its detailed relief of fruits and flowers, exemplifies the Art Deco aesthetic's embrace of natural forms rendered in a sophisticated manner.
